Young Members Policy

This Policy is for Up4it Members aged 13 to 17 (Young Members) and their parents or legal guardians. It explains the extra protections that apply to Young Members in simpler language. The Terms of Service and Privacy Policy still apply.

If anything is unclear, ask a parent, guardian, or another adult you trust to read it with you.

You must be at least 13 to create an Up4it account. Up4it does not currently offer parent-managed accounts for children under 13.

If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, you may use Up4it only with permission from a parent or legal guardian who has reviewed and agreed to the Terms with you. Your country may require a specific parental-authorization or age-assurance step. Up4it may restrict registration or a feature until that step is completed.

Do not give a false age or use someone else’s identity. A parent or guardian must not create an ordinary account and hand it to a child under 13.

For Platform versions that permit Young Members, Up4it applies the following baseline. If a safeguard needed for a feature is not available, we may restrict that feature for Young Members until it is safe to offer.

  • Private by default. A Young Member’s profile, Mood, Moment, location, and participation are not made public or recommended to strangers by default.
  • Careful location sharing. A precise location should be shown only when needed for a Moment and only to the appropriate confirmed Participants. Young Members should not publish a home or school address.
  • Reduced unwanted contact. Audience, invitation, connection, and communication controls should reduce unsolicited contact from unknown adults. Blocking, removal, and reporting controls should be easy to find where the relevant feature is available.
  • No profiling-based advertising. Up4it does not show Young Members advertising selected through profiling based on their personal data.
  • No pressure to stay online. Young Members must not be targeted with streaks, popularity rankings, shame messages, or other design intended to create compulsive use.
  • Age-appropriate moderation. Reports involving a Young Member are assessed with the person’s age, rights, safety, and risk of retaliation in mind.
  • Safe recommendations. If Up4it introduces a feed, discovery, or recommendation feature, it must be designed to reduce exposure to harmful or age-inappropriate Content and avoid leading Young Members into repetitive harmful-content loops.

No technical safeguard is perfect. Another person may still copy information they can see. Share only what is needed with people you trust.

Young Members should:

  • keep their home address, school, regular routes, phone number, and live location private;
  • use Friends and Circles to share with people they know and trust;
  • block or report anyone who pressures, threatens, sexualizes, or asks them to keep contact secret;
  • involve a parent, guardian, or trusted adult before meeting someone they do not already know offline;
  • choose a public place, arrange independent transport, and tell a trusted person the plan; and
  • leave and contact local emergency services if a situation becomes dangerous.

An adult must not use Up4it to groom a child, request sexual or intimate material, arrange secret contact, or pressure a Young Member to meet alone or move a conversation to a less safe channel. See the Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Policy.

A parent or guardian should review the Young Member’s audience and location choices, discuss safe meetings, and help with a report when asked. Permission to use Up4it does not make every Moment suitable. Organizers and guardians remain responsible for supervision, permissions, and other duties imposed by law.

A guardian does not automatically receive access to all of a Young Member’s messages or personal data. Up4it must also consider the Young Member’s privacy, evolving capacity, safety, and applicable legal rights. We may verify a requester’s identity and parental authority before acting on a request.

Where processing depends on parental authorization, a parent or guardian may withdraw that authorization by contacting support@the-corner.io. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing and may mean the relevant feature or account can no longer be provided.

Up4it may ask for an age, date of birth, age range, parental authorization, or another proportionate check where needed for eligibility or safety. We aim to collect the minimum information needed and not use age-assurance information for unrelated purposes.

The Privacy Policy explains what data Up4it processes, why, how long it is kept, who receives it, and how to exercise privacy rights.

A Young Member does not need a parent or guardian’s permission to report a safety or Content concern. Use an in-product report control where available or follow the Reporting and Appeals Policy. You can ask a trusted adult to help you report.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or an appropriate child-protection hotline first. Up4it is not an emergency service.

For non-urgent support, email support@the-corner.io. Share only the information needed to explain the problem.
