Reporting and Appeals Policy
This Policy explains how Members and third parties can report Content or conduct and how affected Members can appeal an Up4it moderation decision.
1. Emergencies
Section titled “1. Emergencies”Up4it is not an emergency service. If there is an imminent risk to life, physical safety, or a child, contact local emergency services or an appropriate child-protection hotline first. Do not wait for an Up4it response.
2. Submit a Report
Section titled “2. Submit a Report”Use an in-product report control where one is available, or email support@the-corner.io with the subject Content report.
A Young Member may report a concern without first obtaining a parent or guardian’s permission. The Young Member may ask a trusted adult to help. We aim to explain requests and outcomes in language appropriate to the person’s age, subject to safety, privacy, and legal limits.
A useful report includes:
- the exact Content, account, or Moment concerned, including a URL, identifier, or screenshot where available;
- an explanation of why it is illegal or violates an Up4it policy;
- the country concerned and, if known, the legal rule that makes the Content illegal;
- your name and email address, except where a law permits an anonymous notice; and
- a good-faith statement that the information is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge.
Provide only information necessary for the report. For suspected child sexual abuse material, do not download, copy, or email the material; provide the account or location information needed to find it.
3. Review Process
Section titled “3. Review Process”We may acknowledge receipt, request clarification, preserve relevant information, and review the reported item in its context. We consider applicable law, our policies, Member rights, severity, likelihood of harm, available evidence, and the proportionality of possible action.
Possible outcomes include no action, a warning, reduced visibility, removal, feature restriction, prevention of participation, account suspension or termination, or referral to an appropriate authority. A report does not guarantee the outcome requested by the reporter.
Where required by law, we will inform the reporter of our decision and available remedies. We may withhold information where disclosure would violate another person’s rights, compromise security, prejudice an investigation, or be prohibited by law.
4. Notice to the Affected Member
Section titled “4. Notice to the Affected Member”Where required by law, a Member affected by a moderation decision will receive a clear and specific explanation that identifies:
- the Content or conduct concerned;
- the action taken and its scope;
- whether the decision was based on law, our Terms or policies, or both;
- the main facts and circumstances considered;
- any material use of automated detection or decision support; and
- available appeal or external redress options.
We may delay or limit notice where lawful and reasonably necessary to protect a person, prevent evasion, preserve an investigation, or comply with an order.
5. Internal Appeals
Section titled “5. Internal Appeals”An affected Member or, where applicable, a reporter may appeal by emailing support@the-corner.io with the subject Moderation appeal. Identify the decision and explain why it should be changed. Include any new context or evidence.
Submit an appeal promptly. Where the EU Digital Services Act applies, the applicable internal complaint period will be at least six months from notice of the decision.
Appeals are reviewed in a timely, non-discriminatory, diligent, and non-arbitrary manner. A qualified person will exercise meaningful oversight where automation materially supported the original decision. We may uphold, reverse, or modify the decision and will explain the outcome where required.
6. External Remedies
Section titled “6. External Remedies”Nothing in this Policy prevents a person from contacting a court, regulator, law-enforcement authority, or other competent body.
Where the EU Digital Services Act applies, an eligible person may also be able to use a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body and complain to the Digital Services Coordinator in the EU Member State where they are located or established. The decision notice will provide additional information where that remedy applies.
7. Misuse of Reporting and Appeals
Section titled “7. Misuse of Reporting and Appeals”Do not submit knowingly false reports, use reports to harass others, conceal material information, or repeatedly submit manifestly unfounded reports or appeals. After warning where appropriate, Up4it may limit abusive submissions for a reasonable period. Good-faith reports are not penalized merely because no violation is found.
8. Privacy
Section titled “8. Privacy”We handle personal data in reports and appeals under our Privacy Policy. We may share information with the affected person or an authority where reasonably necessary and lawful, but we do not promise absolute confidentiality.
